How much do you need your internet connection?

This is a question that every company should ask themselves. Can you do without e-mail, another question that is well worth asking. Lots of companies depend on their e-mail for new business, and as Cloud Services grow we are likely to be as dependant on broadband as we are with other services like telephones and electricity.

So how can you protect yourselves when your Internet goes down? Well most companies try to have more than one Broadband connection, so if one goes off the other one stays on. This is a good Idea but what if the problem is to do with your local telephone exchange? Another way to protect your broadband is to have two types of connection, one ADSL and one Cable, without doubt this is one of the best ways to ensure you have Internet and e-mail access all the time. Unfortunately not all companies can get a cable service in their area, so what else can they do.

There is another device that could protect your Internet connection and that is a 3G Router. How does it work, well if your normal Broadband goes off it automatically switches over to a mobile 3G Service. The only two problems associated with this service are, have you got good 3G coverage and are you willing to pay the high mobile charges when your device switches over to 3G.
