Secure External Hard drives
Some companies are replacing their trusted tape backup systems with external USB hard drives. Tape backup systems have always been expensive so any alternative method is worth looking at.There is a new device that has arrived that will fix one of the problems associated with USB external drives. This new device has a secure keypad built into it so unless you know the code the drive is useless.
As you would expect there are a few things to consider with both solutions.
In short a Tape drive is still one of the best ways to backup your data but if you need to keep costs down, and have a secure backup these new secure USB hard drives are the way forward. And don’t forget you can also use them to backup your notebook. Just don’t forget the password! Because it could take over a 1000 years to crack the code. If you are interested please give Roger a call and he will talk you through all the options.
